SCHOOLS OF ILLUSTRATION
This is a call for illustration schools throughout the region and aims to promote the careers of their students who have unique aptitudes in the field of Children’s and Youth Literature (CYL)

This program offers the winners, finalists and semi-finalists a trip to the Bologna Book Fair, an accompanying program and a book review with publishers respectively.
It also offers participating schools a masterclass for all of its students and promotes an annual meeting for illustration teachers from all over Spain.

Alboroto Ediciones editor – Mexico
Alboroto Ediciones is a Mexican publishing house founded in 2018 with its core ideal being teamwork and collaboration. Because of this, our creators are also part of the company. All of our books use imagery to displace the reader and generate a reaction from them.

Who will review the participants’ portfolio and advise them on its design, as well as on the selection of works, their order and presentation.

Exhibition and catalogue
With the aim of promoting and disseminating the selected participants, the program has an exhibition of the works presented and a catalog with all the selected ones that will be distributed among the national and international editors participating in the different networking meetings of the program.

FAQS
Who can participate?
→ 2nd year students of the upper cycle of illustration and 3rd year students in design from the art schools that are part of the program.
→ The centers pay a fee of €60 to be part of it and the participating students must register (€5 per student)
What does the program offer in illustration schools?
→ The opportunity for one of his students to be selected as a winner, finalist and semi-finalist of the program.
→ A masterclass by a publisher or literary agent with a recognized track record for all participating students.
→ A meeting of illustration teachers* from all over the region as part of the Madrid Book Fair in 2024.
*Tantágora assumes the travel cost of one teacher per center.
How are the finalist and semi-finalist students selected?
→ Through the call for a selection process for all participating students which consists of illustrating an CYL text.
→ From Tantàgora we provide the participating schools with a selection of texts to be illustrated in a specific technique.
→ An international jury composed of Móniga Bergna from Alboroto Ediciones Mexico, André Leibia from the Patológico de Portugal publishing house and Magalí Homs director of Tantàgora, will select the winner, finalists and semi-finalists of the program.

2. ELEVATOR PITCH: support in the preparation of one’s own portfolio in front of a selection of international publishers.
3. PRESENTATION by those who have been selected in the Elevator Pitch section for a group of international and national publishers as part of the Madrid Book Fair in June 2024.
4. TRIP TO THE BOLOGNA BOOK FAIR. The best ranked students will travel to the Bologna Book Fair 2025 and have their entrance fees, flights and accommodation paid for. In the event that the winners live outside of Spain, Tantàgora assumes the cost of a ticket from Spain to Bologna.

*Tantagora is not responsible for the cost of travel if there is any.

Meeting of illustration teachers
Veus Emergentes promotes an annual meeting between illustration teachers from all over Spain, in the framework of the Madrid Book Fair* in June 2024. The aim of this meeting is to facilitate a meeting and exchange space between teachers to assess and analyze possible collaborations between the centers of the network within the framework of this program.
*Tantágora assumes the cost of the travel of a teacher from each participating center.
